Why does Rede Utua recommend the Axis Bank Neo credit card for your consideration?

The Axis Bank Neo credit card sits at the entry point of the RuPay card family issued by Axis Bank, one of India’s largest private banks. Unlike versions that charge a fixed annual fee from the first year, the Axis Bank Neo credit card enters the market with the promise of fee waivers for customers who meet certain criteria, combined with cashback on everyday categories such as food, groceries, entertainment, and travel.

The idea is simple: reward people who already spend on apps like Zomato, Blinkit, Paytm, and Cleartrip, without charging a high annual fee for it. Before applying, though, it’s worth understanding in detail how the fee structure works, what the bank promises in terms of benefits, and which points deserve the consumer’s attention. So stay with us and find out everything in today’s article!

Which customer profile benefits from this card?

The Axis Bank Neo credit card was designed for people who manage their budget through recurring consumption apps: food delivery, online grocery shopping, utility bills, and travel bookings. According to Axis Bank itself, the product combines cashback on movies, restaurant discounts, and shopping platform offers, along with security features and easy installment options for purchases.

It is not, therefore, a card built for major international trips or mile accumulation, but for those who want to turn everyday spending into recurring savings.

Cashback on Zomato, Blinkit, Paytm, and Cleartrip

The main draw of the Axis Bank Neo credit card lies in its recurring cashback partnerships. There’s a flat ₹120 discount on Zomato orders, available twice a month, and a 10% discount on Blinkit, capped at ₹250 on purchases from ₹750, also once a month. Mobile, broadband, and subscription TV bills paid via Paytm get a 5% discount.

Travelers can take advantage of a 7% discount (up to ₹2,000) on domestic and international flight bookings and an 18% discount (up to ₹4,000) on hotel bookings through Cleartrip, once a month in each category. The card also earns Edge Rewards points on general purchases.

How much can the customer save per year?

According to the benefits table published by Axis Bank itself, combined use of these categories can generate savings of up to ₹9,300 in the first year and ₹9,000 in the following years – roughly equivalent to 10% of the amount spent in these categories, according to the bank’s own estimate.

This calculation includes the activation benefit: 100% cashback (up to ₹300) on the first utility bill paid with the Axis Bank Neo credit card, within the first 30 days after issuance. It’s worth remembering that this figure is only illustrative and depends on how much the customer actually spends in each category – those who don’t use the partner apps won’t turn the potential savings into a real benefit.

Author’s opinion

The Axis Bank Neo credit card works well as a savings tool for recurring expenses for those who are already frequent users of Zomato, Blinkit, and Paytm, but its “free card” appeal should be read with caution, since the fee waiver depends on the channel through which you apply.

Anyone who fails to pay the full statement also quickly feels the weight of the 3.75% monthly finance charge: a ₹5,000 balance left unpaid for a month costs about ₹187 in interest alone. In practice, the card pays off more as a tool for organizing day-to-day spending than as a source of credit.

Before applying for the Axis Bank Neo credit card, confirm directly with the bank whether the fee waiver applies to the channel through which you’re registering.
