amazon pay later platform

How to use the Amazon Pay Later platform in your purchases?

Activating Amazon Pay Later is done directly in the Amazon app or via desktop browser, in a process that takes under two minutes. After registration – which includes a PAN Card, KYC identity document and bank account information – the credit limit is set by the lending partner based on the user’s profile.

The identity verification process on the Amazon Pay Later platform can be completed in three ways: reuse of the physical Amazon Pay Wallet KYC, OTP-based eKYC sent to the Aadhaar-registered mobile number, or direct validation with the lending partner for users already registered with Axio or IDFC FIRST Bank.

Once approved, the limit is available at Amazon.in checkout. The user can choose to pay in full next month – interest-free – or split payments across 3, 6 or 12 EMI months. For EMI, a processing fee of 1% of the total order value applies, plus GST (effectively 1.18%). This fee is clearly displayed before confirming the order.

Who can pay in instalments on the Amazon Pay Later platform?

Eligibility for instalments on the Amazon Pay Later platform is assessed automatically based on information already available in the Amazon.in account and the user’s credit bureau history.

Requirements include: an active Amazon.in account with a verified mobile number, a valid PAN Card, a bank account at one of the partner banks, and a valid address document — driving licence, voter ID, Aadhaar, utility bills not older than 60 days, or passport. Users must be at least 21 years of age.

A piece of advice for you!

Activating instalments on the Amazon Pay Later platform is simple – using them wisely is the real challenge. Before even having a limit approved, set yourself a monthly spending ceiling that does not compromise your fixed expenses.

For low-value purchases, compare the total cost of the processing fee (1.18%) with the upfront price – in many cases, paying immediately works out cheaper. For higher-value items, instalments can be a legitimate financial planning tool. In any case, prioritise on-time repayment to preserve your credit and avoid additional charges.
