Who can apply for the GoTyme Bank loan?

To apply for the GoTyme Bank personal loan, you need a valid South African ID, to be 18 or older, and to provide a phone number, an email address and 3 months of bank statements showing your last 3 salary deposits. The bank doesn’t publish a minimum income requirement — the stated criterion is your deposit history in the statement.

The loan is open to non-customers too, through the partnership with TFG Money. Existing customers — especially those who use the app frequently — may have access to higher amounts, according to GoTyme Bank itself.

Documents required

✔️ Valid South African identity document (ID)
✔️ A valid phone number and email address
✔️ Bank statements from the last 3 months, showing your last 3 salary deposits
✔️ Be 18 or older
✔️ Not be insolvent or under debt review
✔️ Not have applied for any other credit or loan in the last 7 days
✔️ If married in community of property, have your spouse’s consent for the application

A word of advice for you!

Not asking for a payslip doesn’t mean skipping the credit check. This is a contract governed by South Africa’s credit legislation (the National Credit Act), and the statement is exactly where your ability to repay is assessed. Review your own entries before sending them in — irregular deposits, bounced debit orders or other short-term debts still outstanding count against approval.

Only apply for the amount that fits your monthly budget. Before committing to a fixed instalment, add up how much of your income is already earmarked for other bills and debts — ideally, your total commitments shouldn’t go over a comfortable share of your salary.

Use the eligibility check as a planning exercise, and read every detail of the GoTyme Bank personal loan proposal sent by email carefully before signing the DebiCheck mandate, which debits your instalments from your account every month.

How do you apply for the GoTyme Bank loan?

The application has 4 steps: check your eligibility, submit 3 months of bank statements, sign the contract online and receive the funds in your account as soon as you’re approved — through the app if you’re already a customer, or via the TFG Money website if you’re not.

The Utua Network is not a financial institution and does not grant credit cards or loans. Our role is to analyse financial products available in the South African market to help you make a more informed and conscious decision. Any application is made directly with the financial institution of your choice.
